Growing up in Southern Maine provided me with a vast area of beautiful landscapes that helped to inspire my passion for photography. Some of the best prints that I have made, originated in Biddeford Pool on the tiny spec of land that is Wood Island. As a kid, we would often kayak out to the island and lay in the sun on the grass surrounding the sparsely visited Wood Island Lighthouse. With no other way to visit than personal watercraft, few people had been able to appreciate the island's beauty up close. Since then The Friends of Wood Island Lighthouse (FOWIL) have taken on the island as their project. There is now a frontloading boat that takes visitors out to see the lighthouse and learn of its history for a small donation. Proceeds from the trips go to the upkeep of the lighthouse and equipment.
